I have worked on a few cases where the woman actually pays the alimony, instead of the man. This is becoming more common. The woman actually makes more money than the man and becomes the one who has to pay alimony.
This can run into big money. Sometimes tens of thousands of dollars per year are paid in alimony.
Sometimes the former spouse tries to continue receiving alimony, when in fact they are not eligible. For example if the spouse has an increase in income due to getting a new job, or a big raise, this changes alimony eligibility. People will get jobs that pay under the table, such as cash only. A good investigator can help uncover this.
If the former spouse, gets a live in girlfriend, that helps pay the bills, can also affect the alimony.
